IBM inaugurates its Global Delivery Centre in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: IBM Global Services India has opened a Global Delivery Centre (GDC) in Hyderabad. This is IBM''s fifth Global Delivery Centre in India. IBM''s other GDCs are in Kolkata, Gurgaon, Pune and Bangalore.
IBM''s facility in the city spread over a 1.64 lakh sq ft, initially houses 1,000 people with capacity to grow in line with client demand, enabling it to scale up delivery of its application management services (AMS) according to market needs.
IBM employs a total of 23,000 people across its five GDCs in India.
Frank Kern general manager (Asia Pacific) IBM speaking at the inaugural function of the GDC said, We see ourselves growing in India as market conditions in India are favourable. In the last four years, we have grown by 49 per cent," he added.
The centre which is networked with IBM''s other centres in India, is part of IBM''s integrated global services delivery network of more than two dozen centres located around the world. Work at the centre will focus on SAP, mainframe and web technologies. The centre would help expand the company provide clients around the world with technology services and solutions in the area of application development and management.
Shankar Annaswamy, managing director, IBM India said, "The expansion of IBM''s global delivery operations in Hyderabad will meet growing client demand for efficient, high-quality delivery services."
Dr YS Rajasekhar Reddy, Andhra Pradesh chief minister while inaugurating the centre said, "We are delighted to have an increased presence of IBM in Andhra Pradesh. In the last one year, AP has registered highest growth in the country with 64.5 per cent against the national average of 35 per cent," he said.
IBM''s Global Delivery Centres in India support clients across industries such as communications, financial services, industrials distribution and public sector.
