Infosys BPO, the business process outsourcing arm of Infosys Technologies, has signed a five-year contract with T-Mobile of UK. Under the contract the Infosys BPO will support several core processes for the company's finance directorate, including customer finance, accounting (F&A), commercial finance and procurement operations.

The partnership is seen to have strategic significance as Infosys BPO will take responsibility for specific transactional activities to allow T-Mobile to concentrate on strategically important issues or which deliver competitive advantage.

The company has, in the past one year, focused on acquiring domain expertise across industries. This would enable it to deliver services to address industry-specific issues through solutions combining process and technology components to improve efficiencies.

According to Gopal Devanhalli, vice president and head (communications, media and entertainment) of Infosys BPO, the company's strong F&A capabilities combined with its understanding of the telecom industry helped it win the account.

According to Tim Spence, head of customer finance, T-Mobile UK, the company is seeking to partner with a company that has a good understanding of its requirements and business needs.
