Infosys to invest up to $150 million in new campus in Shanghai

Infosys Technologies Ltd is setting up a new campus at Zizhu Science and Technology Park in Shanghai, China, with planned investments of $125-150 million, one of its largest investments in China so far.

The new campus, spread over 15 acres, will be developed over a period of 3 years. The centre, with overall seating capacity for 8,000 employees, will have state-of-the-art facilities for software development, labs, data centres, training facilities, food courts, a 1,500-seater auditorium, gym, and other recreational facilities.

The Shanghai campus will be the largest overseas software development centre of Infosys adhering to the highest environmental standards.

With this large investment and enhanced capability we will aim to lead service capability out of China to the global and local markets for business transformation and operations. When this campus is completed, we expect to have over 10,000 employees in Shanghai alone," said Rangarajan Vellamore, CEO, Infosys Technologies (China) Co Ltd.
 
Incorporated in 2004, Infosys China had revenues of over $78 million in the 2011 financial year. The company has centres in Shanghai Pudong Zhangjiang HiTech Park, Hangzhou Binjiang HiTech Park, Beijing China Overseas Plaza besides a sales office in Hong Kong and a global education center in Jiaxing Science city.

Infosys China employs over 3,300 people in China and has already invested $23 million in capital and has office space for 4,200 people in China.
