In a development that would be especially welcomed by movie buffs, Intel has launched a feature called Intel Insider, in its second-generation processor. With this feature users can download and watch HD movies on their laptops and computers.

The processors are expected hit India next month onwards and are naturally expected to do well in the country given the huge popularity of films among the people and also since India is home to one of the biggest film industries in the world.

Content aggregator Hungama.com would be furthering Intel's efforts in pushing the novel feature. Users would be able to download and stream movies, both Indian as well as international from the platform.

The highlight is expected to be the fact that users can download movies ahead of their release date in what is called a proactive queue. Also users can purchase the movies even if they do not have an internet connection at the time of release.

The technology is powered by the Sandybridge chip with in-built graphics which allows users to visit any participating internet movie site. According to managing director for South Asia, R Shivakumar who spoke to Techtree, the launch of Intel Insider in India would be big in the piracy stricken market.

He added that using the technology movie buffs can use Intel Insider to view their favourite movies in HD at their homes on the day very day they are released.
