Mumbai: The seventh largest airline in the world, Continental Airlines, has selected Kale's APEX as the single proration engine for all its domestic and international requirements. APEX is one of the only two proration engines selected by IATA for neutral fare proration (NFP), the core component of its recently-launched initiative, 'first & final interline billing service'.

Since the past six years, Continental Airlines has been using APEX, primarily for its international transactions and most of its remaining proration requirements were being met by two other solutions.

Vipul Jain, managing director & group CEO, Kale Consultants Ltd., said, "This reinforces the industry's belief in our product and our delivery capabilities. It encourages us to continue our pursuit to develop world class software solutions and services."

Kim Repetowski, senior director revenue accounting, Continental Airlines adds "We, at Continental have been using APEX for most of our international transactions for over six years now and are extremely satisfied with its capability as well as the excellent support and services provided by Kale Consultants to us since 1997. Our decision to choose the same proration engine for our entire operations is a result of this. We have easily exceeded the payback that we expected from its initial implementation. Effective third quarter 2004, we will transition to using APEX to prorate all our sale and lift transactions."

Ashish Malhotra, president Kale airlines division & CEO of Kale's US operations, commented, "We are confident that APEX will go a long way in assisting Continental to minimise interline rejections and improve cash flow. APEX is functionally very comprehensive and will provide Continental Airlines with highly accurate and timely results. We look forward to a mutually rewarding association with them."

APEX, from Kale, one of the most sophisticated products in the market for passenger ticket Proration, is capable of handling the most complex special prorate and code share agreements. This eliminates manual proration calculations, leading to unparalleled accuracy in interline billing and considerable productivity gains.
