KEC International forms US joint venture

KEC International Ltd, a part of the Rs9,500-crore RPG Enterprises, has entered the North American market with a joint venture with US-based Power Engineers Inc. KEC Power Inc. (KPI) the new company formed in the US is a 50:50 joint venture, based in the state of Idaho.

PEI is recognised as a leader in the transmission and distribution consulting sector in the US with an annual turnover of $100 million, and an employee base of 750 spread across Northern America.

Announcing the formation of the joint venture, Ramesh Chandak, managing director, KEC International Ltd, said, "The North American market is poised on the verge of significant growth opportunities. High value projects are expected to come up as US builds transmission system infrastructure. We felt this is the right time for KEC to enter the North American market.

In PEI, we have an able partner with extensive consulting experience in the US. We are confident that KEC Power Inc. will combine the expertise of the parent companies and establish itself in the highly competitive US market.

The company is currently engaged in executing orders in various countries such as Abu Dhabi, Libya, Tunisia, Algeria, Iraq, Afghanistan, Oman, Zambia, Nigeria and Ethiopia.

In the domestic market, too, the Company is a leading player and is already executing various orders for PGCIL, WBSEB, J&K SPDC, UPPCL and Powerlinks, etc.

The company is one of the largest power transmission, engineering, procurement and construction companies in the world with presence in more than 15 countries.
