Mumbai: Good response from the market to new motorcycles has sent Kinetic's (www.kineticindia.com) sales soaring during the festive season of September-October, as the two-wheeler group reported a growth of 50 per cent in its October 2003 sales as compared to August 2003 of this year; with combined sales for October 2003 at 24,573 as compared to pre-festive sales of 16,380 for August.

Kinetic Engineering, the manufacturer of mopeds and motorcycles, reported a growth of 53 per cent (from 9,325 in August to 14,284 in October), and Kinetic Motor, the manufacturer of modern scooters, reported a growth of 46 per cent (from 7,055 in August to 10,280 in October).

The sales growth has been fuelled by a good initial response to Kinetic's new range of motorcycles. In the first week of September, Kinetic launched four new motorcycles and marks its presence in every important category of motorcycles — from economy (Boss 115) to executive (Velocity) and performance (GF 170 city) to premium (GF Laser). Kinetic's new motorcycle offerings are differentiated from the competition in each segment by virtue of superior specifications and performance at attractive pricing.

Says Kinetic joint managing director Sulajja Firodia Motwani: "I am glad that the market has accepted our new products well. Especially the Velocity, our offering in the executive segment, has been a hit. Even though we have not yet opened many important markets in the country, for example, southern states. We have sold 7,000 Velocity in the first six weeks of launch itself. My feedback shows that our customers like the motorcycle's styling, comfort, smoothness and handling. The Zing, our scooterette, has also been growing steadily and has captured a 25-per cent market share in the first year. We expect good growth in the coming months."
