Pune: Refrigeration and air-conditioner compressor-maker Kirloskar Copeland has now started manufacturing high-powered condensing units. With this, Kirloskar Copeland, a 51:49 joint venture between Kirloskar Brothers and the US-based Copeland Corp, has become the first company in India to make both compressors and condensers. Condensers, customised to meet different requirements, can serve air-conditioning and refrigeration applications in the minus 10 degree Celsius to 10 degree Celsius range. Condensers are mainly used in dairies, cold rooms, industrial chillers and water coolers.

The estimated market-size of condensers is Rs 25 crore, and there is a possibility of it expanding to Rs 50 crore in two years. Kirloskar Copeland, which has already positioned itself as leaders in the compressor segment, hopes to make significant headway in the condenser market.
