KPMG International has been ranked as the No 1 Outsourcing Advisors in this year's rankings of The World's Best Outsourcing Advisors by professional standards organisation, International Association of Outsourcing Professionals (IAOP).

Last year KPMG had ranked second on the IAOP list, which is comprised of 20 Advisory firms.

''This achievement is important in the context of the Indian market which is seeing a significant increase in the use of outsourcing and shared services as levers to achieve operational excellence and cost optimisation,'' says Viral Thakker, head of shared services and outsourcing advisory practice, KPMG in India."

To make the list, companies that provide consulting and legal advice to outsourcing buyers and sellers submitted applications covering various criteria, including customer satisfaction, size of revenues and global presence. The rankings were awarded by an independent judging panel organized by the IAOP.

''This is a significant accomplishment and is a result of the strategic investments our member firms have been making to further strengthen our global capabilities in the shared services and outsourcing areas,'' says Mark A. Goodburn, global head of advisory, KPMG International.

According to IAOP chairman, Michael Corbett, ''In today's economy, it is more important than ever for outsourcing end users to be able to easily identify and select the right company for their outsourcing needs. The Global Outsourcing 100 and The World's Best Outsourcing Advisors lists are essential for companies who are looking for proven leaders and rising stars in the outsourcing industry.''

KPMG is a global network of professional firms providing audit, tax and advisory services, with operations in 152 countries and 145,000 people working in member firms, each of which are affiliated with KPMG International Cooperative, a Swiss entity, though each KPMG firm is a legally distinct and separate entity and describes
itself as such.
