Kochi: The Konkan Railway Corporation (KRC) has submitted a draft proposal of the ambitious Skybus project for Kochi to the Kerala State Industrial Development Corporation (KSIDC). It will be taken up by the state cabinet on 13 August 2002, says KSIDC managing director Jiji Thomson.

Thomson says the proposal will be finalised after incorporating the cabinet inputs. The Rs 1,000-crore Skybus project is being considered as a solution to the traffic snarls in Kochi.

Thomson says among the other projects pursued by the state government are an aircraft engine maintenance facility at the Nedumbassery airport, in which Rolls Royce has shown a keen interest, and an industrial water supply project in Kochi.

Detailing some of the projects under consideration for non-resident Indians, Thomson says an IMAX theatre at Marine Drive, Kochi, is also being considered by the government. He is of the opinion that healthcare, tourism, real estate and biotechnology sectors have good investment potential in Kerala.
