KRL obtains high safety ranking

Kochi: Kochi Refineries Ltd has been graded level seven in the international safety rating system by the independent foundation Det Norske Veritas (DNV).

This rating places the organisation among the top few companies and industrial units audited by DNV across the world, Kochi Refineries Ltd said in a statement.

The safety audit, comprising of a wide array of factors and components, was completed in October 2003. DNV''s rating systems is acknowledged worldwide and is a comprehensive audit of the management''s performance and it has 10 levels of certification.

The verification is conducted in 20 different areas, with each area having a specified number of points. The total number of points for which an industrial unit or company is rated is 12,000.

To attain level seven, KRL had to score a base minimum in 15 different areas, ranging from leadership, communication, accident and incident analysis to security, planned inspections, various levels of maintenance and training.
