Kurlon to roll on to comfort products

Chennai: Forty two-year old mattresses major, Kurlon, is planning to launch an entire range of household comfort products. "The new products will be an extension of existing products," says managing director, T Sudharkar Pai.

While he keeps his plans close to his chest, the mattresses company wants its products to move out of bedrooms into the living room as well.

It is learnt the company is planning to launch furniture (cots, sofa sets, chairs) and drapes. According to officials, a study is being underway to examine the extent to which the Kurlon brand could be extended.

The product range apart from mattresses includes its pillows, Kurlopillo, cushion, KurloCushion, doormats, Kurlomat, and towels, Kurlotowel.

With the new product range Pai hopes to achieve a quatum jump in the's turnover by 80 per cent from the current level of Rs.160 crore.

Commanding a market share of 55 per cent in the organised mattresses market, Kurlon entered the cotton bed segment with its Kurlon Kotton. The other recent launches are a new spring mattress, Kurlon Spinekare mattress, Grazel pillow (both made from visco elastic memory foam) and Kurlon Platinum Polyurethane Foam cushions.
