L&T bags 2 thermal power plant orders worth Rs827-crore

The thermal power plant construction (TPPC) business unit of engineering and construction major Larsen & Toubro (L&T) has secured orders worth Rs827 crore for construction of two thermal power plants.

The work involves construction of the Gautami Combined Cycle Power Plant (CCPP) of GVK Power in Andhra Pradesh and expansion of the Talwandi Sabo Power Plant of SEPCO-I, in Punjab.

The order from GVK Power, valued at Rs602 crore, involves total construction, including certain electrical and mechanical balance of plant items (E&M BOP) for the 2 x 392 MW Gautami Stage-II combined cycle power plant in Andhra Pradesh. L&T is undertaking the work in consortium with Hyundai of South Korea.

The other order from SEPCO-I, valued at Rs225 crore, involves the civil works for the 2 x 660 MW Talwandi Sabo Power Plant being developed by Sterlite Energy Limited in Punjab.

With around six decades of expertise in construction of power plants, the $9.8 billion technology, engineering and construction group has constructed several gas/ coal-based power plants in India and abroad.

L&T's engineering and construction business comprises execution of engineering and construction projects to provide solutions in civil, mechanical, electrical and instrumentation engineering (on turnkey basis or otherwise) to core / infrastructure sectors, including the Railways, ship building and supply of complex plant and equipment to core sectors.
