L&T bags Rs2,000 crore building construction order from Australian company

Mumbai: Engineering and construction major Larsen & Toubro Ltd (L&T) has recently secured Rs12,000 crore worth of orders on a turnkey design and building basis from leading property developers/owners, including a Rs2,000 crore order from Kingston Properties Pvt Ltd.

L&T's construction division, ECC, will undertkae construction of various office and residential buildings in Mumbai, to be developed in a span of four years, the company said in a filing with the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE).

Apart from this, the buildings and factories (B&F) business unit of ECC has secured orders for many assignments, including Rs665 crore design & build contract from Cognizant Technology Ltd for their development centres in Chennai and Kolkatta.

L&T has also bagged a Rs187 crore turnkey order from ITC Hotels Ltd for their Grand Chola Hotel at Chennai. The scope involves construction of 1.52 million sq ft area to house 600 rooms.

L&T has secured a Rs408 crore contract from ICICI Bank for construction of an office building in Hyderabad. The scope involves construction of 4.0 million sq ft building area, having basement plus 16 floors.

ECC has also secured a Rs300 crore order from CSJ Infrastructure Pvt Ltd for construction of 3 million sq ft building at Chandigarh for development of malls, office space & hotel.

The business unit has so far bagged contracts worth nearly Rs12,000 crore, including Mumbai International Airport Ltd (MIAL), in the last nine months of the current year.
