L&T bags Rs581-crore Kuwait Airport fuel facility contract

Larsen & Toubro Ltd (L&T) has bagged an engineer-procure-construct contract valued at Rs581 crore (37.98 million Kuwait Dinar) from Kuwait Aviation Fuelling Company (KAFCO), a subsidiary of Kuwait Petroleum Corporation. The contract is for KAFCO''s new fuel depot project at Kuwait International Airport. The project involves pumping fuel through underground pipelines from Mina Al-Ahmadi Refinery to the storage depot and the contract stipulates project completion within 24 months. L&T secured the contract through international competitive bidding.

KAFCO, provides high quality aviation fuel to Kuwait International Airport and maintains the fuel storage facilities in the vicinity of the airport. The new project will cater to the expanding needs of the international airport.

L&T will be engaged in installation of new pumping units at MAA Refinery, laying of cross country jet fuel pipeline from the refinery to fuel depot, construction of six 33-m diametre and ll metre high fuel tanks at the new storage depot, installation of an interconnecting pipeline from the new fuel depot to existing hydrant system of the airport, construction of headquarters building, providing state-of-the-art depot control system with associated instrumentation works and the complete electrical system including the total power backup facilities.
