L&T plans to enter wind power generation

Engineering and construction major Larsen and Toubro is planning to enter wind-based power projects in a big way, a company official said in Chennai today.

''We are presently looking at wind-based power projects,'' Suneet K Maheshwari, chief executive of L&T Infrastructure, the infrastructure finance division of Larsen and Toubro, said.

The renewable energy sector has huge potential globally, said L&T Finance Holdings' president and wholetime director N Sivaraman said.

''Globally, there will be opportunities for companies to enter this area,'' he said.

The officials were interacting with media persons during the launch of L & T Infrastructure's Rs1,100 crore retail tax-saving long term infrastructure bonds.

The nine per cent bonds having a 10-year maturity, hit the market on 25 November. It will close on 24 December.
