L&T secures Rs2,000-crore order from Bombay Dyeing

Engineering firm Larsen & Toubro, today announced that it has bagged a Rs.2,000-crore order from the Wadia Group flagship company, Bombay Dyeing, for construction projects in Mumbai.

Larsen & Toubro's construction division, which secured the order, will develop building complexes spread across an area of 9 million sq. feet at Bombay Dyeing's textile mills in Worli and Wadala, the company said in a regulatory disclosure.

The turnkey project involves construction of mixed-use developments of around 4 million sq. feet at the textile mills in Worli and 5 million sq. feet at Spring Mills in Wadala. L&T is scheduled to complete the projects within the next 46 months, that is, by the end of December 2011.

L&T's Engineering Construction & Contracts (ECC) division is the largest engineering and construction firm in India and also L&T's biggest money spinner, accounting for more than 80 per cent of group revenues. This division is involved in turnkey projects in core industry sectors on EPC basis.

L&T operates in diverse businesses such as construction, engineering, electronic products and systems, information technology, financial services and shipbuilding.
