Chennai: The Chennai-based Laser Soft Infosystems, banking software product company has successfully implemented ProBanker CB — a core banking solution- at Andhra Bank. The solution has gone on live in 140 branches.

According to Suresh Kamath, chairman, Laser Soft, Andhra Bank is the first Indian bank, which has adopted the clustering technology while installing the core banking solution.

Bank branches can be networked in two modes - centralised or in clusters. Under the former, the branches would be connected directly to the main server, normally located at the bank head quarters, from where the data would be distributed. "This mode has some limitations in the case of banks having large number of branches," remarks Kamath.

Under the cluster mode, the branches would be connected to the central server through a zonal server ensuring failsafe operations. Further the capex will be less for the banks as the existing hardware could be used and there are no limitations as to the number of branches that could be connected.
