LG Electronics plans to spend Rs50 crore on advertising and marketing activities for spreading healthcare awareness among the public this year.

According to LG Electronics India's business head (home appliances) Rajeev Jain, the company had earmarked Rs50 crore for a healthcare awareness campaign in 2010 and the South Korean company with its strong presence in the country would promote its products including refrigerators and washing machines on its health pitch to consumers.

Jain in an interaction with the media said the company had spent Rs40 crore on the 'Health Plus Campaign' last year. He added that the company would invest more money in the same initiative in 2010.

"We are confident that we will see good response from Indian consumers," he said.

About 80 per cent of these products offered under the initiative are manufactured in India.

In the washing machine segment, the company offers steam technology-based models that minimise risk of allergy from use of detergents, according to LG officials.
