LG to launch full touch screen cellphone in India soon

LG Electronics India Pvt Ltd, a global leader in consumer electronics, is about to launch its new simple touch screen model GD510 mobile in the India market, six months after its international debut.

Popularly known as Cookie Pep, it has social networking features aimed at attracting the young crowd.

"As the name suggests, the phone will enable our young mobile users to have an unordinary fun experience. It delivers all the essentials in communication, multimedia and entertainment in a delightfully compact form," said Sudhin Mathur, business head, mobile communications, LG Electronics.

Priced at Rs7,500, Cookie Pep is expected to create more excitement as LG gets set to unveil a massive 360 degree marketing campaign soon.

So far, the company is estimated to have sold about a million units of the compact 3-inch full touch screen phone across the globe.

"We gave the GD510 an optimised feature set, which allowed us to concentrate on making the phone more compact and simpler to use," said Skott Ahn, president and CEO of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company, adding, "The LG GD510 delivers all the essentials in communication, multimedia and entertainment and comes in a compact form factor as well."
