Lufthansa Cargo to market Jade Cargo's Europe-Asia route

Zurich: Lufthansa Cargo will replace Swiss WorldCargo as Jade Cargo's partner on its Europe-Asia route from 30 March.

Jade Cargo is jointly owned by Shenzhen Airlines, which has a 51 per cent stake, Lufthansa Cargo (25 per cent) and German financial institute DEG (24 per cent).

Jade currently operates a fleet of six Boeing 747-400ER freighters.

Andreas Otto, Lufthansa Cargo executive board member responsible for product and sales, said: "Taking over Jade's capacities ex-Europe will enable us to expand our services and offer our customers attractive, direct flights from major economic centres in Europe to the Pearl River Delta region and Shanghai."

Kay Kratky, chief executive officer of Jade Cargo, said: "The integration of Jade Cargo's capacity into Lufthansa Cargo's product portfolio on European routes will give our customers access to an extensive network. On routes to Asia, Jade Cargo - operating under the umbrella of Lufthansa Cargo - will be able to offer non-stop flights on routes that were previously only served indirectly via the Frankfurt hub."

Jade operates services to Shenzhen and Shanghai Pudong from Amsterdam, Barcelona, Brescia, Luxembourg and Stockholm. It further connects Shenzhen with Osaka and Seoul.

Frankfurt and Tianjin will be integrated into Jade's network From 30 March.
