Luxury car maker Jaguar Land Rover India announces sales growth of 45 per cent for January-March 2016 quarter

Luxury car maker Jaguar Land Rover India today announced sales growth of 45 per cent for the January-March 2016 quarter, taking the total past 1,000 units.

The company said in a statement, the growth was driven by high demand for its recently launched new models such as the new small sedan Jaguar XE and the Discovery Sport.

The Hindu quoted Rohit Suri, president, Jaguar Land Rover India  Ltd (JLRIL), ''The Jaguar and Land Rover brands are now firmly established in India. The Jaguar XE, which we introduced in the Indian market in February 2016 in petrol derivatives, has received a tremendous response. Also, demand for the Model Year 2016 Jaguar XJ, Range Rover Evoque and Discovery Sport continues to be extremely robust.''

The Jaguar range in India includes the F-Type (starting at Rs1.25 crore in CBU form), the locally manufactured XF (starting at Rs47.7 lakh), the locally manufactured XJ (starting at Rs99.99 lakh) and the XE, manufactured locally, (starting at Rs39.90 lakh).

The Land Rover range in Indian comprises the flagship Range Rover (starting at Rs2.12 crore), Range Rover Sport (starting at Rs1.18 crore in CBU form) and  the Discovery 4 (starting at Rs1.11 crore), all in CBU form. The New Discovery Sport starts at Rs47.59 lakh and the 2016 new Range Rover Evoque starts at Rs48.60 lakh, with all prices mentioned being ex–Mumbai, pre-octroi.

JLRIL operates 23 authorised outlets in India.

Jaguar Land Rover said in January said that it had achieved record global sales figures in 2015, selling 4,87,065 vehicles its highest ever yet and a 5 per cent jump from 2014 figures.
