M&M launches Maxximo Mini Van at Rs3.8 lakh

Mahindra & Mahindra toady announced the launch of Maxximo Mini Van VX, a passenger version of its Maximo mini truck, priced between Rs3.7 lakh and Rs3.8 lakh.

The Maxximo Mini Van, launched in Gujarat today, will compete with Maruti Suzuki's Omni and other mini vans, which account for 10 per cent of national sales.

The new product is an eight-seater, powered by a two-cylinder 909 cc diesel engine developed by M&M and will be available in both BS-III and BS-IV compliant options, Arun Malhotra, senior vice president, sales and customer care (automotive division), said.

With its 18-20 km per litre mileage, the new vehicle is expected to corner a significant chunk of the market, Malhotra added.

Mini vans in India sell around 20,000 units per month, with Maruti's Omni and Eeco accounting for 12,000 units, and is growing at 10 per cent.

Mini vans are emerging as the choice of both the entry-level contract carriage and the stage carriage segment.
