M&M's Rudrapur unit resumes operations

Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd today resumed production at its Rudrapur plant, in Uttarakhand, after the authorities relaxed a three-day-long curfew imposed in the area that had forced employees to stay home.

With the lifting of day curfew in the town of Rudrapur, the company said, workers are now able to report to duties.

However, the company said that due to adequate availability of stocks, this production loss would not have any material impact in the short term on sales volume.

Besides Rudrapur, Mahindra and Mahindra has manufacturing centres at Jaipur, Nagpur,Zaheerabad and two units at  Nashik  and Mumbai each.

Mahindra and Mahindra, the flagship company of the Mahindra Group, manufactures utility vehicles as also agricultural tractors and light commercial vehicles (LCVs).

Mahindra and Mahindra has two main operating divisions - automotive division for the manufacturing utility vehicles, LCV and three-wheelers. Another division, Farm Equipment manufactures agricultural tractors and implements used in conjunction with tractors. It became the market leader in Indian tractor market in 1983 and has retained the position till today.
