Mahindra launches 1.2 tonne pickup truck 'Genio'

Diversified automobiles group Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd today announced the launch of the `Genio', its next generation light commercial vehicle. The 1.2 tonne pickup will cater to the transportation needs of small and medium businesses in India.

Equipped with international styling, technology and comfort, the Genio is priced at Rs4.99 lakh (for the BS3 variant, ex-showroom Navi Mumbai).

The BS4 compliant version is also available for BS4 markets, the company said in a release.

The second product to roll out of Mahindra's state-of-the-art Chakan plant, the Genio comes equipped with a powerful CRDe engine with 75 HP power and 220 Nm torque. It can achieve a top speed of 120 km/hr and is capable of handling any kind of load and terrain with ease. 

It boasts of a floor console with a mobile charging point, a bottle holder, coin holder, etc. The dashboard has a wallet case and a mobile case apart from a big glove box. It has the shortest turning radius among pickups of 6.15 meters, which helps it negotiate the narrowest of lanes.

The Genio also comes fitted with radial tubeless tyres, which ensures that the tyres do not burst in case of a puncture, especially on the highway, the company said.
