India's leading auto maker, Mahindra & Mahindra, today announced the launch of its passenger carrier Maxximo Mini Van priced at Rs3.2 lakh.

"Maxximo Mini Van is priced at Rs 3.2 lakh (ex-showroom BS3, Navi Mumbai) and will be developed at the company's state-of-the-art Chakan plant in Maharashtra," M&M automotive & farm equipment sectors president, Dr Pawan Goenka told reporters in Mumbai.

The vehicle will take on Tata Magic and Maruti Omni in the mini van segments.

The target consumer is the semi urban and rural buyer who will be able to order the vehicle from 230 dealers and 600 outlets across the country according to Goenka.

The company has invested Rs130 crore in the development of the Maxximo platform and Rs 70 crore would go into the putting up the manufacturing line.

According to Goenka the production capacity of 2,000 vehicles per month at Chakan can be ramped up as required.

The Maxximo Mini Van comes with a wide body that makes for additional space. Its monocoque chassis with independent front suspension offers greater comfort.

The mini van features C2 CRDe diesel technology, alongwith superior pulling power of 25 HP and a top speed of more than 70 kmph. The vehicle offers a fuel economy of 18 kmpl.

According to the company, the minivan is one of the safest vehicles in the group as the Maxximo, being wide bodied it is built for high rigidity and its strong chassis with autonomous front suspension offers greater comfort.

The vehicle is economical as its capacity allows it to seat eight adults. The Maxiximo comes with cushioned bucket seats which can prove to be lifesavers when commuting over long distances under Indian road conditions.  Good ventilation thanks to the butterfly window system, spacious interiors and plenty of luggage room makes this M&M LCV ideal for Indian roads.
