Mahindra reports higher UV, tractor sales in September

Mumbai: Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. today said its domestic auto sales rose 12.1 per cent to 27,431 units for the month of September 2009, as against 24,481 units in September 2008.

The total UV sales in September 2009 which includes the Scorpio, the XYLO, the Bolero and Pick-Ups stand at 21961 units as against sales of 16,059 units in September 2008, a growth of 36.8 per cent.

Mahindra's YTD domestic sales stand at 132,522 units in September 2009, as against 116,971 units for the same period last year which is an increase of 13.3 per cent.

The company sold a total of 28,434 vehicles (Domestic + Exports) in September 2009 as against 25630 vehicles sold in September 2008.

Its domestic and export sales of tractors stand at 16,986, as compared to 10,868 units for the same period last year, an increase of 56 per cent.

It said that the domestic sales in September 2009 registered a record 59 per cent increase at 16,359 units, as compared to 10,307 in September 2008, without including the 11,643 tractors under the Swaraj brand that it acquired when it took over Punjab Tractors Ltd. in August 2008 . Including the sales of Swaraj tactors, the growth for the period works out to 19 per cent.

YTD domestic sales registered a 48 per cent increase at 80,610 units, as against 54,543 units for the same period last year. M&M's YTD domestic and export sales  registered a 4-per cent increase at 83,865 units, as compared to 58,893 units for the same period last year.
