Mahindra Reva likely to launch electric car e2o next month

09 Jan 2013

Mahindra Reva Electric Vehicles Pvt Ltd is expected to launch its new electric car, the Mahindra 'e2o', next month, reports quoting  chairman Anand Mahindra said.

The e2o is powered by a set of lithium ion batteries that gives a range of 100km on a single charge. The e2o can be charged from any 15-ampere plug point at home or workplace.

The launch of the next-generation electric vehicle Mahindra e2o, unveiled in 2012 by group chairman Anand Mahindra, has been delayed for want of a government policy on electric vehicles.

The government is widely expected to announce the National Electric Mobility Mission Plan (NEMMP) later this month, raising hope that the company may launch the car next month.

The e2o (Ee-too-oh) will be built at Mahindra's platinum-rated automobile plant at Bangalore, which has a rated capacity of 30,000 cars per annum.

The e2o is the first step in the creation of an entire electric vehicle value chain and ecosystem by the Mahindra Group.
