Mahindra’s sub-4 metre KUV100 ready for launch

Mahindra & Mahindra, the home-grown SUV leader, will launch the much-awaited Mahindra KUV100 compact SUV in the Indian car market on 15 January 2016. Bookings for the mini SUV have already commenced at a token amount of Rs10,000.

Ahead of its launch, the variant wise features of the sub-4 metre SUV have been made available by the company. The engine specifications and other details of the SUV have already been revealed. Interestingly, the range-topping variant gets Mahindra's Micro Hybrid Technology.

All the variants are equipped with ABS with EBD and Engine Immobilizer as standard safety features.

The Mahindra KUV100 will be offered with four trim levels - K2, K4, K6 and K8 - and in total of 8 variants. Dual airbags come as an optional across the lineup.

To rival the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Swift, Hyundai Grand i10 and the Maruti Suzuki Wagon R, the small hatchback SUV is likely to be priced in the range of Rs4 lakh to Rs6 lakh.

The Mahindra KUV100 K2 (base) variant is equipped with body coloured bumpers, rear spoiler, manual air-conditioning with heater, power steering with tilt adjustable function, front arm rest, steel wheels, ABS with EBD and engine immobiliser.

Mahindra KUV100 K4 variant is additionally equipped with body coloured door handles and outside rear view mirrors, mud flaps and wheel caps, foldable rear seats, power windows and central locking.

Mahindra KUV100 K6 variant gets chrome treatment for grille, piano black finish on centre console and door-side cladding. It features blackened B-pillar, roof rails, driver's height adjustable seat, rear arm rest, keyless entry, electrically adjustable ORVMs, cooled glove box, follow-me-home headlamps with front door puddle lamps, infotainment system with four speakers and two tweeters. It also has two driving modes - Power and Eco.

Mahindra KUV100 K8, the top-end variant, gets all the features of the lower-end variants with added front fog lamps with chrome inserts, puddle lamps for all doors, silver accents on rear door handles, 12-spoke alloy wheels, Micro Hybrid feature and daytime running lamps.

The Mahindra KUV100 compact SUV will be offered with two engine options - 1.2-litre mFalcon G80 petrol and 1.2-litre mFlacon D75 diesel. While the former is good for 82bhp of power at 5,500rpm and 114Nm of torque at 3,500, the diesel burner is capable of producing 77bhp of power at 3,750rpm and 190Nm of torque between 1,750rpm-2,250rpm.

Power will be transmitted to front wheels via a five-speed manual gearbox. The small SUV will be offered with six exterior shades - Pearl White, Designer Grey, Fiery Orange, Midnight Black, Dazzling Silver and Aquamarine.
