Mahindra Tractors’ cumulative domestic sales rise 45 per cent

Mahindra & Mahindra's farm equipment sector has reported  year-to-date vehicle sales of 64,251 units, a 45-per cent rise against the previous year.

The company's YTD sales (domestic and exports) registered a 39 per cent increase at 66,878 units, up to August 2009, as against 48,025 nos for the same period last year.

Domestic sales in August 2009 registered a 4 per cent increase at 10,160 nos as compared to 9,781 nos for the same period last year. Total sales (domestic adn exports) for the month of August 2009 registered a 2 per cent increase at 10,645 nos, as compared to 10,427 nos. for the same period last year.

With the merger of Punjab Tractors with M&M effective from 1 August 2008, the cumulative August sales figures include 15,707 units of Swaraj division (formerly Punjab Tractors) for the period April-July, 2009.

The $6.3-billion Mahindra Group is among the top 10 industrial houses in India. Mahindra's farm equipment sector is the recipient of the Japan Quality Medal, the only tractor company worldwide to be bestowed this honour. It is also the only tractor company worldwide to win the Deming Prize. The US based Reputation Institute recently ranked Mahindra among the top 10 Indian companies in its Global 200: The World's Best Corporate Reputations list.
