Maruti gearing up to hire afresh

Maruti Suzuki is gearing up to hire fresh workers in the wake of the violence at its Manesar plant that left one general manager of the HR department dead and several others injured.

The auto major is looking at several sources, including its own Gurgaon plant, for the acquisition of a new workforce for the facility.

Meanwhile, around 1,000 new workers would be hired with the Maruti Suzuki also expecting to sack around 500 workers for their involvement in the clashes.

According to sources, with the hiring of a new workforce that would be introduced shortly, the company hoped to hire apprentices who would be trained, which in turn would result in fresh hiring at the Manesar plant.

The Manesar plant rolls out the Maruti Swift and Dzire models.

Analysts do not see chances for an early resolution of problems and the plant restarting any time soon. But the workers at its Gurgaon plant remain hopeful.
