Maruti launches 2 new variants of hybrid Ciaz

Maruti Suzuki, India's largest car manufacturer, has launched two new variants of its popular Ciaz mid-size sedan. The variants – Vxi (O) and Vdi (O) – are priced at Rs7.48 lakh and Rs8.37 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), respectively.

The Vxi (O) and Vdi (O) trims, available in petrol and diesel hybrid versions respectively, come with features such as the anti-lock braking system (ABS), seat belt pre-tensioner, force limiters and seat belt reminder with buzzer at driver's side. Additionally, the vehicle will be equipped with dual airbags and other safety features.

"By offering the option of more safety equipment on our base variants, we want to encourage customers to buy cars that enhance their safety," said R S Kalsi, executive director, marketing and sales, in a statement.

With the two new variants, the Ciaz is now available in 12 variants. The prices for the petrol variant start at Rs7.31 lakh and go up to Rs9.65 lakh for the ZXi automatic. The diesel Ciaz starts at Rs8.23 lakh and goes up to Rs10.17 lakh for the top-of-the-line Zdi+ SHVS.

The Ciaz is powered by a 1373 cc petrol unit that develops 91bhp at 6000 rpm and 130 Nm of torque at 4000 rpm mated to five-speed manual transmission. The petrol variant is also available with four-speed automatic transmission.

The diesel unit comes equipped with a small hybrid system with 1248 cc displacement and develops 89 bhp at 4000 rpm and 200 Nm of torque at 1750 rpm. The engine is paired with a five-speed manual transmission.
