New Delhi: Market leader Maruti Udyog Ltd. has announced the launch of a new variant of the Versa, its multipurpose vehicle.

The new variant, the Versa 5-seater, will help MUL retain its large base of Omni customers by providing an excellent upgrade option for them. Maruti brands have a dominant position in the C segment (Van type vehicles), with the Omni having sold more than eight lakh units so far. The company claims that the Versa is becoming increasingly well accepted as well.

With a price tag of just Rs 3,27,817 (ex showroom, Delhi), the company says that the Versa 5-seater scores on price, space and performance parameters. The new variant will not only provide comfortable seating space for five people, but will leave a large amount of room for luggage. The Versa 5-seater comes with a heater, and also has the provision to fit in an air conditioner.

Not only does the Versa's compact design and tighter turning radius make it easier to drive, but with the inherent advantages of a petrol engine, its better ride and low maintenance cost the new variant indeed becomes an attractive proposition for families and commercial operators.

The Versa brand already comes in three variants, including Versa DX , Versa DX2 and the top end Versa SDX . The price of the existing variants ranges from Rs 4.01 lakh to Rs 4.92 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
