Maruti Q2 net profit up 27 per cent to Rs4,665 million

New Delhi: Maruti Suzuki India Limited has reported a total income of Rs47,358 million (net of excise) during the second quarter (Q2) of the fiscal (July-September 2007), a growth of 33.7 per cent over the same period last year.

Profit before tax went up to Rs6,841 million during Q2 of 2007-08, a growth of 28 per cent over same period last year. Net profit stood at Rs4,665 million, up 27 per cent over July-September 2006.

With this, the total income (net of excise) for the first half of the fiscal (April-September 2007) was Rs88,899 million, a growth of 30.5 per cent compared to the same period of the previous year. Net profit stood at Rs9,661 million, up 31.1 per cent over April-September 2006.

The company''s domestic sales during Q2 (July-Sept 2007) grew 17.8 per cent over the same period last fiscal. The company sold 191,325 vehicles during the quarter, including 15,171 units of exports.

During the first half of this year, Maruti''s sales grew by 17.5 per cent in the domestic car market. In the same period, the A2 and A3 car segments grew faster showing a growth rate of 21.9 per cent and 57.7 per cent, respectively.
