Automobile maker Maruti Suzuki today announced that it has won the MMA Asia Pacific, MMA Global award for the best use of mobile marketing in the branding category by the Mobile Marketing Association (MMA).

Maruti Suzuki and its mobile media partner M/s Affle won the award for the campaign, 'Sports Sponsorship goes mobile', which was deployed around the Indian Premier League and FIFA World Cup in 2010.

The awards, presented at the mobile marketing forum in Los Angeles on 17 November by MMA recognise companies who adopt the mobile channel for marketing purposes.

The two-month long campaign by the automaker used multiple mobile media platforms like Affle's SMS2.0, mobile internet, voice portals and SMS advertising.

''This campaign was a result of our study of changing consumer behaviour that showed a significant increase in the consumption of sports related content on the mobile phones,'' said Shashank Srivastava, chief general manager (marketing), Maruti Suzuki.

The campaign is estimated to have reached to over seven million users with over 1.2 million engagements and a seven per cent CTR (click through rate).

The Mobile Marketing Association is the global non-profit trade association representing all players in the mobile marketing value chain with more than 700 member companies.
