Maruti Suzuki upgrades Swift variants; marginally hikes prices of some models

16 Jan 2010

Maruti Suzuki India Limited has upgraded its Swift and Swift DZire to BS-IV compliant with more fuel-efficient K12 petrol engine. The company also announced marginal increase in the prices of its models, excluding the recently launched Eeco, Swift (petrol) and the Gypsy models, effective today.

The company said the price hike will partly cover the increase in the input costs arising out of high raw material costs over the past one year while, in the case of some models, the company would absorb the costs.

The price increase varies from 0.12 per cent (Ritz VDi) to 1.90 per cent (Dzire LXi) while the average increase in prices is around 0.6 per cent.

The Swift (petrol) and Swift Dzire (petrol) will now be equipped with the more fuel efficient, refined and environment friendly 1.2 litre K-series engine and comply with BS-IV norms, the release said, adding that the new petrol variants have a new improved transmission thus enhancing overall power-train performance.

The new K12 petrol gives the Swift variants a fuel efficiency of 17.9 km per litre (certified as per CMVR rule 115) against 15.9 km that the previous engine delivered.

The company said it has also upgraded the diesel variants of Swift and Swift Dzire to meet the BS-IV norms.

Under the price revision, the introductory prices for the refreshed Estilo have been withdrawn and the new prices are up Rs1,243 to Rs2,486, depending on the variants.
