The recent violence and shut-down at its plant in Manesar has not deterred Maruti Suzuki. Instead, automobile giant Suzuki will invest Rs1,700 crore in a new plant at Manesar, according to Haryana minister said.

Maruti Suzuki will invest Rs1,700 crore for setting up the plant at Manesar, near Gurgaon, state industries minister Randeep Singh Surjewala told the assembly on Friday.

The two plants – A and B – are back to normal production with daily production of 186 cars, he said.

"Maruti is expected to restore its original production capacity within next fortnight or month," the minister said, while replying to a call attention motion in the monsoon session of the state assembly.

Surjewala said Maruti Suzuki was planning to expand its Manesar facility while at the same time investing another Rs3,500 crore for a motorcycle, international testing track and research and development facility in Rohtak, in the state.

He said that the Maruti management had expressed full confidence in the state government and the question of relocation of the plant did not arise at all.

Haryana chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda had met the top management of the company twice and normalcy had returned to the Manesar plant. Adequate police force was stationed at the plant, Surjewala added.
