Maruti to launch A Star small car in the A2 segment in October

India's leading car manufacturer, Maruti Suzuki will launch the `A Star' small car from its Manesar plant in Haryana in October this year, a company official said.

According to M M Singh, managing executive officer (production), the A Star will be the company's newest addition in the A2 segment joining other models such as WagonR and Zen Estilo.

The car would be exported to the European markets in addition to domestic sales, in a bid to expand its portfolio in the A2 segment.

Maruti, which accounts for 55 per cent of the market share in the country, also launched the Swift DZire, the sedan version of its hatch back Swift.

In the last 11 months, Maruti sold 41,800 units in the domestic market.
