McDonald’s to unveil new campaign

12 Oct 2009

McDonald's is unveiling a new campaign to celebrate its 35th anniversary in the UK, featuring popular food items such as the Big Mac and French Fries which appeared on its original menu in 1974. The 'Favourites' campaign, which broke on 10 October features items including the Big Mac, Quarter Pounder with cheese, Chicken McNuggets and French Fries - all of which appeared on the chain's first UK restaurant menu in 1974.

The ad also brings attention to how the brand has evolved over the past 35 years. The fast food chain says over the past three years it has invested heavily in broadening its menu choices, remodelling restaurants, providing free wifi, strengthening its commitment to the environment.

The company says such investments have helped the brand achieve record sales and customer numbers.

The campaign, which uses the strapline 'There's a McDonald's for everyone', shows different people visiting a McDonald's restaurant at varying times.

The TV ad, by Leo Burnett, is intended to reflect how the brand has evolved over the years.

Jill McDonald, McDonald's chief marketing officer for the UK and Northern Europe, said: 'Many people in the UK experience a sense of nostalgia about our brand and feel passionately about our core menu. This campaign hones in on the different types of McDonald's customers and explores their experiences.'

The campaign will also encompass print, press and online activity.

The ads will also be reflected on the website and social media channels led by digital agency Razorfish.
