MindTree bags Aadhar's `Unique Identity' project

IT solutions firm MindTree Limited has secured the application development and maintenance service contract of 'Aadhaar', earlier known as the Unique Identification (UID) project.

The work involves application software development, maintenance and support services for designing, developing, testing, integrating, supporting and maintaining UID
application (UID-App) software.

The contract is for two years, including maintenance and support for the UID application.

The scope of work for MindTree spans the complete application life cycle from designing, developing, testing, maintaining and supporting the UID application, including providing application help desk services.

MindTree is also expected to carry out ongoing services of development and enhancement to the core UIDAI application.

Nandan Nilekani-headed Aadhaar will authenticate every Indian in terms of his or her identity based on biometric verification. With a massive information base of 1.2 billion people and the ongoing collection, validation, issue and constant verification of identity, project Aadhaar will be one of the most complex projects undertaken by any IT firm, MindTree said in a release.
