Moser Baer launches new LCD television, Ice

Moser Baer today announced the launch of the "Ice" - a new age, aesthetically designed, liquid crystal display (LCD) televisions - as its Diwali offering.

`ICE' is available in three variants of 20", 22" and 24" and claims to be the lightest TV in the LCD category with a full-face glass. It weighs between 4.5 kg and 5.9 kg and the first two models are in HD Ready format while the third, the 24" LCD, is in full HD format.

Its sleek design and the special support stand gives it a distinct appeal to discerning customers, Moser Baer said in a release.

"Our recent survey showed us that more than 60 per cent of potential consumers preferred products that are both technologically and aesthetically evolved. Through  Ice, we have tried to fulfill this aspiration of the customers. Ice is about style statement that is in tune with the current lifestyle of today's consumers," said Bhaskar Sharma, CEO, Consumer Electronics and Information Technology, of Moser Baer. 

The Ice range of LCDs is priced between Rs14,000 and Rs18,900 and is available across Moser Baer distribution networks, the company said in its release.

Moser Baer, one of the largest manufacturers of optical storage media, with a strong R&D focus, is already well established in the IT peripherals and consumer electronics businesses.

The new LCDs recorded the highest volume sales for the company during the launch face in its category.
 
Moser Baer announced a strong operating cash generation of Rs1,85.1 crore during the second quarter of the current financial year. Earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation recorded a 55 per cent growth compared to the similar quarter of the previous year.
 
Shipments of optical storage media grew 13 per cent during the quarter while DVD sales were up 26 per cent. Photovoltaic business achieved the highest sales (26.8 MW) comprising crystalline silicon and thin film module sales worth a total Rs240 crore.
