Moser Baer Photo Voltaic to enter solar panel market in Australia

14 Apr 2010

Moser Baer Photo Voltaic Ltd (MBPV) will now offer its crystalline silicon modules, or solar panels, in the Australian market following the approval of its IECEE-CB-certified crystalline silicon products by Australia's Clean Energy Council (CEC).

The Australian regulator allowed Moser Baer to offer its crystalline silicon modules in Australia recognising the TuV Intercert's IECEE-CB certification and the product's high quality, Mose Baer said in a release.

The IECEE-CB certification is mandatory for all crystalline silicon module manufacturers who want to operate in the Australian market, the release said. (IECEE-CB is an international scheme operated by the IEC System for Conformity testing and Certification of Electrotechnical Equipment and Components) to facilitate international trade.)

With a projected total solar power generation of around 20 per cent of the country's total production by 2020, Australia is expected to open up a huge market for Moser Baer Photo Voltaic.

"Australia is one of the new emerging markets for solar energy as its government has declared that 20 per cent of its total electricity generation should be through renewable sources by 2020. This offers us with a huge potential market to be tapped," Ratul Puri, executive director of MBIL, said.

"We have achieved success globally due to our high quality products matching stringent quality norms and certification which are in accordance with the local requirements. Hence, we are certain that we will replicate our success model in Australia too," Puri added.
