MSN India launches Windows Live in five Indian languages

New Delhi: To mark its sixth anniversary celebrations, MSN India has announced the launch of Windows Live Messenger in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam and five new Indian language portals, MSN Hindi, MSN Tamil, MSN Telugu, MSN Kannada and MSN Malayalam. MSN India has also unveiled the new MSN India Homepage.

The language portals also carry latest news with a special focus on local news astrology, sports, recipes and humour in different languages.

The availability of Windows Live Messenger in Indian languages enables the company to extend its reach to different language groups and enable users to communicate in their preferred regional language on MSN Messenger, using multiple keyboards options available with the language packages with Windows Live Spaces, which allows web logging, sharing pictures and music.

"With the launch of MSN Hindi other regional languages and the new languages feature on Windows Live Messenger, MSN India continues its drive to provide MSN services and products to its users in their regional languages," says Jaspreet Bindra, country head, MSN India and Windows Live.

Raj Nayak, CEO , NDTV Media, says, "A large number of users of the online medium would love to have an interface that allows them to communicate as they would face to face. Users will have content in their choice of language as well as communicate in their mother tongue through Windows Live Messenger."

MSN India also announced the launch of the Windows Live Domains allowing users to create their email ids in their own domain names and create unlimited accounts under their respective domain names. The users domain will get a hotmail account, which can be upgraded to Windows Live Mail Beta free. Email addresses on the domain can be used to access the services on the Windows Live network such as instant messenger and spaces.
