MTNL halves broadband charges, launches mobile TV in Delhi

Mumbai: Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd (MTNL) will cut broadband charges in Delhi by up to 50 per cent and reduce the monthly rentals for some plans by 34 per cent. These plans will be available in Delhi from 15 August, reports said.

MTNL also announced the launch of its mobile TV service. The service will be available to all the MTNL customers on both Dolphin and Trump in Delhi and the NCR region. The users can view 20 different channels for Rs99 per month, the company's executive director – Delhi, A K Arora, said.

MTNL, reports said, will offer customers high speed (2 MbPS) internet access and 150 Mb of free download at a monthly rental of Rs99. Users can also opt for a monthly rental scheme of Rs149 with free download of 400 Mb. These plans will be available from 15 August, the reports said.

MTNL would also reduced the monthly rental on the Rs899 plan by 34 per cent to Rs599 from 1 September.

''MTNL, which has 2.6 lakh broadband customers in Delhi, plans to attract more customers with this reduction," said Arora.
