MUL to launch Maruti 800 special editions

Chennai: The Rs 15,000-18,000 price reduction has really helped Maruti 800 models achieve a robust sales growth. As a result Maruti Udyog Ltd (MUL) hopes to sell 12,000 units of the model in August 2002.

In order to capitalise on the excitement, MUL is again coming out with a special limited edition Maruti 800s. The company had tasted success when it brought out a special limited edition early this year.

On popular demand from customers and dealers, MUL has decided to offer this limited addition from September to November 2002 to coincide with the festive season, says a company spokesman.

The new special edition will sport body graphics, body-coloured bumpers and front-grills. The interiors will have colour-coordinated seat upholstery, door-trim, leather steering wheel cover and carpets.

Further, this time around, the special edition will also be available in Standard E1, apart from Standard MPI and DX variants. The colours available will be Moonbeam Silver and Riviera Red.

Nevertheless, at the ex-showroom Delhi level, the prices of the special edition are higher than their regular counterparts in metallic colours by about Rs 7,000.
