NDTV unveils new corporate logo; gears up with all-new look

Mumbai: New Delhi Television (NDTV), promoted by Dr Prannoy Roy, has unveiled its new corporate logo. The logo will symbolise the new corporate identity for NDTV’s ‘new avatar’ as a premier broadcasting house.

Designed by Los Angeles-based TAG Creative Brand Solutions in collaboration with NDTV’s design team, the new logo retains the connectivity of the letters from the original logo with a stronger, more modern mark.

A red dot with a strong and distinct motif has been added in order to tie the logo together while reinforcing the recall from the previous logo. It also communicates NDTV’s core brand values of integrity, credibility, balance and innovation, with added characteristics of energy and passion for quality.

Says Roy: “The idea behind the new logo is to maintain continuity with the original logo, while giving it a more contemporary look and ensuring that the same works across all media. The new corporate logo is aimed at communicating the core brand values and NDTV’s philosophies as a media house.”

NDTV appointed TAG after going through pitches from the world’s top-class graphics and design agencies in the world. At least four international companies from different parts of the world flew down to India to make a bid for the NDTV business. Once the basic designs were agreed on, TAG’s team in collaboration with NDTV’s design team produced the finished animations.

Tom Connor founded TAG, a privately held company. It offers a range of services in visual media design including logos and corporate identity that could be on-air, in print or on the web. It also offers brand communications solutions — audits, brand positioning briefs, marketing communications plans and brand research studies.

The TAG team’s other interesting case studies have been half a dozen commercials for Steven Spielberg’s film Minority Report, Star Trek: Voyager, Maj-I, Court TV, Hallmark Channel and KDB Skylife.

NDTV is, and has been for the last 15 years, a pioneer in Indian television news. Now NDTV is set to create a fresh revolution in high-quality television news with the launch of two separate news channels: a 24-hour news channel in Hindi and a 24-hour news channel in English.

Through its history, NDTV has broken fresh ground in technology and quality, while always achieving the highest standards in news programming. From path-breaking shows like The World This Week (nominated as one of India’s five best television programmes since Independence), to the first privately produced nightly news bulletin on Doordarshan, The News Tonight… from producing India’s first 24-hour news channel Star News, to the first live coverage of elections and tracking the budget live, NDTV has always been the leader in news and current affairs television.

NDTV’s team of professional journalists includes India’s best-known faces on television — a team that has won a large number of international awards, including India’s first-ever international Emmy award.

As an organisation, NDTV is totally committed to one cause: to use its experience, expertise, technology and reach to create unparalleled coverage of the latest in domestic and international news and entertainment for viewers at home and around the world.
