NIIT Technologies and Hitachi Asia in cloud computing JV

Global IT solutions firm NIIT Technologies Limited and IT services firm Hitachi Asia (Thailand) Co Ltd, have jointly launched a high-reliability cloud computing service, leveraging their respective expertise in data center management.

The data center, located in Bangkok, would initially serve local Japanese corporations.

"With our strong track record in managed services, this partnership would provide enhanced value to our customers. Cloud computing is a pioneering service being introduced to supplement our increased focus around non-linear computing," Arvind Mehrotra, executive vice president of NIIT Technologies Ltd, said.

Hitachi Asia (Thailand) and Hitachi Information System have carried out design and architecture of the cloud system and NIIT Technologies is responsible for the implementation and maintenance of the system. Both the companies will leverage their strengths for solution designing, SaaS application development, sales and marketing to evangelise this technology, a company release said.

The joint venture expects to assume leadership and sustain growth in Asian markets proactively by focusing on social innovation business, including in information and telecommunication systems, it said.

The cloud computing service would offer resource on demand, virtual mail hosting and virtual web hosting services on the cloud across Asia, said Kazuo Karasawa, managing director, Hitachi Asia (Thailand) Co Ltd.
