Nissan Motor launches new Sunny in India

Nissan Motor India Pvt Ltd (NMIPL), a wholly-owned subsidiary Japan's Nissan Motor Co., has launched the new Sunny in India with in the price range of Rs7.29–Rs10.22 lakh (ex-showroom, Mumbai).

The new Sunny is being launched in eight variants and six colour options, and all models loaded with anti-braking system, electronic brakeforce distribution, brake assist and driver's airbag as standard, the company said in a statement.

The top XV Premium variant is being equipped with leather upholstery in Leather variant and side airbags in safety variant. The new model goes on sale immediately at all Nissan dealerships across the country.

The New Sunny is based on the popular tenth generation model that was launched in 2011, and is being introduced with a bigger front grille, d boomerang shaped headlamps and chrome detailing around the car.

''India is a key strategic growth market for Nissan. We continue to monitor its evolution extremely closely to ensure our expanding product portfolio fits regional needs. The New Sunny is our answer that responds to the changing demands and desires,'' said Andy Palmer, Chief Planning Officer at Nissan Motor Corporation.

''When first introduced in 2011, the Sunny redefined the spaciousness and value proposition in its segment, setting new benchmarks in India," said said Kenichiro Yomura, president at Nissan India Operations.

Yomura added, "The aspirations of Indian sedan customers have evolved since then but we are confident that the New Sunny is now even better equipped to meet and surpass them. The new model will strengthen our presence within this crucially important and growing segment.''

The new Sunny range includes three petrol and five diesel variants. The car's redesigned rear end comes with flared bumper, black diffuser cladding, chrome trunk garnish and short antenna. Other styling features include chrome door sills, outside rear view mirror-mounted turn signals and 12-spoke Y-pattern alloys.

The car comes with a 1.5-litre HR15 petrol engine and a 1.5-litre K9K diesel engine. The petrol engine is mated with a 5-speed transmission (both manudal and automatic), while the diesel variants are mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. The petrol variants offer 16.95kmpl (ARAI certified) fuel efficiency figures of and 17.97kmpl for manual and CVT transmission, respectively. For the diesel variants, the mileage is 22.71kmpl.

The new Sunny will be available in six colours with three new shades - pearl white, deep grey and nightshade – apart from Onyx Black, Bronze Grey and Blade Silver.
