Nissan to focus on expansion plans for LCV business

Tokyo:  Japanese automaker Nissan will continue to focus on the light commercial vehicle (LCV) business as part of a strategic growth plan, announced Carlos Ghosn, Nissan president and CEO during the  Nissan GT 2012 mid term business plan. As part of the plan Nissan will start LCV sales in Russia in September 2008, and in India and the US in 2010.

According to Ghosn, the company has expects to double its revenue in the LCV segment in 2012 compared to fiscal year 2007.The company has outlined plans for the expansion and would launch13  new light commercial vehicles during this period, with substantial investment

The company acknowledges the need of the LCV customers across the world, and would focus on customer satisfaction performance in the global LCV market by 2012 by offering them quality products.

In 2007 the LCV business unit of Nissan sold 519,703 vehicles worldwide with  consolidated operating profit exceeding 8 per cent. The NP300 pickup truck (also sold as the Frontier in selected markets) was the best-selling Nissan LCV with 71, 678 units.

China topped LCV sales  with 151,088 units followed by Japan with 121, 790 units.
