Nokia launches C2-01 and X2-01 smartphones in UK, X-5 in India

Finnish phone maker Nokia has launched a pair of affordable phones in the UK, in a bid to woo price conscious punters.

The company suffered a setback when it had to admit to a power management fault with its high-end N8 smartphone but has now come out with two devices aimed at customers who do not want to spend more than £100 on a device.

Nokia's C2-01 and X2-01, priced at €70 and €80 respectively, incorporate features that, according to the company, are "a fit for the needs of as many people as possible".

Nokia is keen to highlight the low price of its new handsets, using that as an excuse for the devices having less features.

The company introduces the C2-01, with the money saving pitch, saying, "The most important thing to know about the Nokia C2-01 is that this is our most inexpensive new 3G phone."

According to analysts that would surely set the hearts of bargain hunters anywhere racing.
